We strive to follow Jesus Christ by being Diligent in ministering to the needs of the world
Westminster, its Mission Committee, and the Presbyterian Women of Westminster (PWW) fellowship, provide tens of thousands of dollars and thousands of hours to support educational and service organizations in our neighborhood, the Madison community and the world. The sub-menu-items under Serving Others discuss our contributions to our major and long-term local community partners. You can find our full Serving Others activities on our computer/tablet website westminstermadison.org.
Funding comes from our tithes and collections, targeted giving opportunities, the PWW biannual rummage sales and Christmas auction, and many other fund raising events. We provide, at no cost, meeting space for the Cherokee Heights Girl Scout Troop, the Madison Depression and Bipolar Support Group, the Doin’ R Thing activity group for the developmentally disabled, AA, our local neighborhood association and others.

We embrace in particular the approximately 50% of the students at Thoreau and Cherokee Heights schools who qualify for free or reduced price lunches, and especially the about 5% who are homeless. Likewise, we support families in the low-income Allied Drive neighborhood, with financial support for Eviction Prevention, the Wellness Center, youth programs, and the Allied Food Pantry, for which we also donate groceries on the first Sunday of each month. In addition, we collect and help wrap Mother’s and Father’s Day gifts for about 100 children, contribute our KnitWits fellowship mittens and hats and many other Christmas gifts, provide gap lunches for students when school is not in session, and provide and share a yearly pot luck meal.
