The music ministry at Westminster enriches the congregation’s worship of God. Through the glorious gift of music, we proclaim God’s word, sing God’s praise, and offer our prayers. Fellowship and nurture are important aspects of our music ministry. We are a singing congregation, and leadership from our Chancel Choir enhances our congregational song. We embrace a blended style of worship that integrates a variety of types and styles of music chosen to amplify the proclamation of God’s word.
The Chancel Choir is the principal ensemble in the music program. From September to June, its members provide leadership in worship on Sunday mornings. The choir’s sacred musical repertoire spans a wide range of styles, including both classical works and spirituals. The choir has also shared larger choral works in worship, including Vivaldi’s Gloria and requiem settings by Mozart, Faure, and Rutter. Each year, the choir leads the congregation in the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, based on the annual Christmas service held at Cambridge since 1918. On occasion, a Festival of Hymn Singing, led by the Chancel Choir, replaces the traditional worship service.
We at times join with other Presbyterian Church Choirs for special concerts. The combined choirs of Christ, Covenant and Westminster Presbyterian  Churches assembled for Singing A Welcome to our refugee and immigrant neighbors and to support the Community Immigration Law Clinic. A reception and information fair followed, with other organizations that serve these populations participating.
We welcome and encourage individual and small group soloists, and our bell choir, to share their musical talents, sometimes joining the Chancel Choir. Small groups may gather to lead the congregation in a Summer Sing.
